DHAKA, Jan 11, 2026 (BSS) - The government today clarified that Moni Chakraborty, a grocery shop owner in Narsingdi, was killed due to family disputes and previous business enmity, nullifying the religious link with the killing. Referring to the recent incident of Moni Chakraborty killing in Narsingdi, he said according to preliminary assessments by the police and the victim's family, he was killed due to family disputes and previous business enmity. As the individual belonged to the Hindu community, false propaganda was spread in various places claiming that he was killed in a communal attack, Foyez added. Otherwise, he said, issuing statements without verifying the facts and spreading false information together can play a significant role in damaging social and communal harmony. Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam and Deputy Press Secretary Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad Majumder were present at the briefing.
