Agencies that send female workers abroad do not complete registration making it difficult to identify and locate the responsible persons in case of any untoward incident occurs at their work place, he said on Thursday. “We are making registration mandatory for recruiting agencies,” the Foreign Minister told reporters while briefing them about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s forthcoming official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), reports UNB. Referring to the demand of some quarters to stop sending female workers abroad, Dr Momen said they have not yet taken any decision but the government does not want to discriminate women. Mentioning that around six lakh female workers are now abroad and around 2.70lakh of them are in Saudi Arabia alone, Dr Momen said, “Most of the complaints come from Saudi Arabia.”Majority of the female workers now abroad are somehow managing well with a small percentage of them facing problems, he said. “We have taken various measures to send female workers after giving them training.
