The book is particularly relevant to those seeking scholarship on masculinities in modern Arabic literature and Arabic literature in the diaspora. Together, the essays depict how masculinity is being constructed, dismantled, and reconstructed in Southwest Asia (the “Middle East”) and North Africa. MK & NS: Both of us have had longstanding research interests in women and gender studies, particularly postcolonial and Muslim feminism.
