Trump 1.0 had repeatedly stated he would end America's 'forever wars' started by George W Bush in Afghanistan, Iraq and elsewhere. To find an off-ramp to not further bloody its own nose while crushing another face, the US needs to find an intermediary. Former US colonel Douglas Macgregor isn't alone in suggesting that such an intercessor for Trump can be Narendra Modi. As Macgregor points out, an intermediary needs to be 'not part of the problem'. Iran isn't going to hold it open.
