Moderna said its vaccine appears to be 94.5 per cent effective, according to preliminary data from the company's still-ongoing study. Moderna expects to have about 20 million doses, earmarked for the U.S., by the end of 2020. Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech expect to have about 50 million doses globally by year end. Canada has ordered up to 56 million doses from Moderna, with a firm commitment on 20 million. Pfizer's shots require long-term storage at ultra-cold temperatures, while Moderna says regular freezer temperatures will suffice for its vaccine.
