With the launch of the new facility, police personnel would be able to constantly monitor images and video clippings captured through the CCTV cameras installed at various places in the city. Superintendent of Police Ashwin M. Kotnis inaugurated the facility established at Thoothukudi South police station, in the presence of Assistant Superintendent of Police (Thoothukudi Town) S. Selvanagarathinam. These CCTV cameras would also prevent bike lifting crime. These CCTV cameras would also help the police prevent antisocial elements from causing nuisance to the public during processions or public meetings, he said.
