Mehedi Hasan, 29, was arrested in Banasree during a raid on a house on Wednesday, said RAB-3 Commander Lt Col Tuhin Mohammad Masud. A business graduate from Darul Ihsan University, he is known as Imam Mehedi Hasan aka Abu Jibril within the outlawed extremist group. Hasan told RAB during preliminary questioning that he has been involved with the JMB since 2015. The tech-savvy ‘Brigade Ad-Dar-e-Kutni’ was then kept as a ‘reserve force’ that worked to recruit operatives, according to RAB. As the ‘Badr Squad Brigade’ became weakened in counter-terror activities, the ‘Brigade Ad-Dar-e-Kutni’ tried to gather strength by recruiting more members.
