Modding dates back to the original black CPU

Back then, as noted by Ethan Cooper, a competing modder for Team Australia, all he had was a boring old, black CPU on his desk. The desire to customize and modify this CPU and other computer hardware was what led Cooper and his fellow competitors from the other five teams into the world of modding. Sure enough, some of the biggest countries in modding are represented by the teams competing in this year's challenge, namely Australia, China, Thailand, the Philippines, the United Kingdom and the United States. These modders said there were no specific qualities sure to make a "good modder" because there is no "right build" in modding. With this in mind, CyberMedia is hosting a series of modding workshops alongside the competition throughout the week to get the general public acquainted with modding through first-hand experience at modifying hardware.
