Nubono's counsel Seung Youn asked the court to impose a sentence of intensive supervision and community work. Community work would keep him fully occupied and would be the least restrictive outcome. While Judge Cocurullo agreed intensive supervision was needed, he disagreed with the idea of community work. This was because Nubono might not be particularly welcomed by his fellow community workers, given the nature of his offending. He sentenced Nubono to two months of community detention, and 12 months of intensive supervision.
