In a statement, the automotive firm said it announced its intention to participate in the Philippine government’s electric vehicle promotion program, the Electric Vehicle Incentive Strategy (EVIS) during a meeting between President Marcos and Mitsubishi Motors CEO Takao Kato. Subject to the approval of its EVIS application, the plan involves the production of a new HEV model at Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC)’s plant in Santa Rosa, Laguna by the middle of next year. Earlier, MMPC took part in the government’s Comprehensive Automotive Resurgence Strategy program, which offered incentives to encourage investments in local vehicle manufacturing.
