Mississippi state House PASSES bill to remove the Confederate battle emblem from its state flag

The Mississippi state House has voted to remove the the Confederate battle emblem from its state flag after 126 years, with the senate expected to follow suit. The Hill reports that under this bill, the commission would be expected to recommend a flag design by mid-September. If the majority approve, it will become the new state flag. After years of arguing that civilians should decide the fate of the Mississippi flag, Gov. Reeves committed to signing any flag bill after spending years pushing the decision out of lawmakers' hands.
