A French tourist who went missing in Fiordland has been found safe after a search and rescue operation lasting more than 12 hours. Police said the 20-year-old man went into a track off the Milford Road about 2pm yesterday, intending on a day walk. A search was launched and the man was located about 1.30am today. Around 8:30am today, a Southern Lakes helicopter crew used gear to lift the man from the bottom of a ravine in the Falls Creek area. The man was given a checkup for a head knock and is now recovering.
