(CNN) — A 17-year-old girl who disappeared on a spring break trip has been confirmed dead, and a suspect is in custody, said South Carolina authorities. The remains of Brittanee Drexel were found last week, more than 13 years after she went missing in Myrtle Beach. The high school junior from Rochester, N.Y., had defied her mother to travel to the popular spring break destination. Investigators say they believed she was killed the day she went missing. Raymond Douglas Moody, 62, of Georgetown, is charged with murder, obstructing justice, kidnapping and criminal sexual conduct in the first degree, his arrest warrants show.
