This was when most of the art appeared in Central Asian cities. Today, many murals and mosaics have been painted over or destroyed, while others have been neglected. The Soviet art, as a reminder of a fallen political system, is not high on the urban preservation list in most Central Asian cities. Many other mosaics show idealised Soviet citizens, or glorify Soviet achievements in space, science or sport. Do you live in one of the Stans cities, or have you spent time there?
