Missing elderly man found after 10 hoursAn elderly Invercargill man who was reported missing has been found almost 10 hours later, wet, cold and muddy in a ditch. Police said the 88-year-old man was reported missing from his care home in Invercargill at about 7.30pm on Monday. He left the home on Racecourse Rd wearing a black jersey and fawn-coloured trousers. LandSAR volunteer searchers found the man in a ditch on Finlay Rd, approximately 1.5 kilometres from his home at 5.30am on Tuesday. Approximately 25 volunteer searchers from Invercargill and Gore LandSAR groups and the Invercargill Amateur Radio Emergency Communications (AREC) group, along with five police search and rescue squad members were involved in the search overnight.
