Missing Saskatchewan teen's mom says Canada could learn from U.S. about searches

SASKATOON — The mother of a teen who went missing from her home community of Yorkton, Sask., two years ago says Canadian authorities need to do more during searches for children. Mekayla Bali was 16 when she last seen at the Yorkton bus depot in April 2016. Her mother, Paula Bali, told a Child Find meeting in Saskatoon Friday that Canada could learn from the United States on how to handle missing children cases. “We really need to, I think, restructure and re-organize how we look for missing children,” she said Friday. Bali says since her daughter went missing the family has put up more than 6,000 posters across Canada and the U.S. seeking information.
