Miss D case: Woman told abortion was murder and advised to stay in mental hospital by social workers


The woman at the centre of the controversial Miss D case in 2007 has revealed that she was told by social workers at the time that getting an abortion was murder and that she was advised to stay in a mental hospital. I think it’s sick - I think they have a mental illness. Ms Dunne told of the treatment she received in hospital in Liverpool where she opted for an inducement so she could give birth. She went through 16 hours of labour in the hope that her baby would “take breath” unaware that the baby was already dead. Although she was not identified, she said that she lives in a small town “everyone knew who I was.
