Minority will resist Agyapa deal again if it comes back unchanged – Suhuyini

General News of Saturday, 27 March 2021Source: Class FMIf the Agyapa deal comes back to Parliament in the same shape and form, the Minority Caucus will fiercely resist it, Tamale North MP Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini has said. “The Agyapa deal, in all sincerity, was not opposed in its entirety because nobody has ever been against making more gains for Ghana using its natural resources but the process and vehicle used have always been the problem and, so, we opposed the Agyapa deal initially because of the process and the vehicle that we're going to be used”, he explained on the show. However, a damning report about the transaction by the Office of the Special Prosecutor prompted its withdrawal from Parliament. Parts of the OSP’s report said the Transaction Advisor(s) involved in the deal were susceptible to “nepotism, cronyism and favouritism”. Additionally, Mr Amidu said in the 67-page report that the deal lacked “probity, accountability and transparency” in some aspects.
