The Minneapolis police department fired four officers Tuesday after a black man died while in police custody and a video of the encounter surfaced on Facebook. The department’s decision came after the video showed the man, identified as George Floyd, telling officers that he couldn’t breathe while one of the officers held him face down on the ground with his knee on the back of Mr. Floyd’s neck. Federal and state authorities said they had launched an investigation into the incident.
