The Tripoli-based Libyan Ministry of Transport announced that it participated in the 3rd “Toward the South” forum in Sorrento, Italy, held from 17-18 May. The Ministry was represented by its Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transportation for Air Transport Affairs, Khaled Swessi, accompanied by the Minister of Local Government, Badr Al-Din Al-Toumi, and the Libyan Ambassador to Italy. Undersecretary Swessi delivered a speech on behalf of the Minister of Transport, Mohamed Al-Shahoubi, in which he touched on the efforts of the ministry in developing the infrastructure of the transportation sector. He also called on international companies, Italian companies and Mediterranean countries to invest in Libya in all fields, and transportation in particular. He highlighted the steps the ministry has achieved to develop airports and equip them in accordance with international standards for security and safety.
