The Ministry of Economy says prices of some basic goods have fallen by more than 30% following a government campaign to regulate the market. Suhail Abu Shaiha, undersecretary at the Ministry of Economy and Trade in the Government of National Unity, said the decline was part of a gradual correction process without imposing fixed prices. Speaking to the government’s Hakomitna platform, he said the drop was now being felt by consumers, with some goods costing more than 30% less than they did on 5 January. Abu Shaiha said the campaign would continue nationwide, in line with instructions from the prime minister, and would be carried out under existing laws. He added that authorities were closely monitoring import credit lists for each product and trader to improve transparency and market stability.
