According to the draft voter list published on January 2, the number of voters in the country is more than 104,051, says the law minister. Anisul Haque, who is the in-charge of the Election Commission Secretariat in the House, told the parliament on Monday in reply to a question from treasury bench lawmaker Nizam Uddin Hazari (Feni-2). As per the draft voter list, the minister said, the number of new voters is a little over 333,259. Responding to another question from the same lawmaker, Anisul said no proposal was made to upgrade Feni Municipality to a city corporation. “In line with the existing law, necessary steps will be taken if a proposal is made in this regard,” he added.
