Mining Investor Khulubuse Zuma To Pay R23m In Damage Over Aurora


After six years of exoneration and long-running legal battle, Aurora Empowerment Systems director, nephew of President Zuma and mining investor Khulubuse Zuma has agreed to cough up R23-million in a settlement deal with Pamodzi and Aurora mine liquidators. The mining investor’s company – Aurora purchased the mine in 2009. See Also: Khulubuse Zuma Finds Himself In Trouble With US GovernmentTrade union Solidarity general secretary Gideon du Plessis confirmed that Mining Investor Khulubuse Zuma has made a down payment of R5-million for the settlement and must pay a further R500 000 by the end of Wednesday. Both families were given until October 27 to motivate why they should not be placed under final sequestration by the law court. However, Du Plessis opined that the families’ assets will be sold off to pay workers salaries until they respond to the court order.
