Ryan Mellings’ car suffered “significant damage” following the crash, which occurred in Knighton on April 6. Mellings, of Noble Court, Knighton, was not at the scene when police officers arrived, but witnesses confirmed he had been the person driving the Mini Cooper. Samples at the police station showed Mellings had 51 micrograms of alcohol in his system – the legal limit is 35mcgs. “He has not been in court before and is ashamed.”Magistrates banned Mellings from driving for 14 months – a ban he can reduce by completing a drink-driving awareness course.
