Minecraft turns 15 and continues to delight young and old

Fifteen years – that’s how long Minecraft has been captivating millions of people as they create worlds where they can be exactly who they want to be. There’s excitement, adventure and intrigue but there’s a lot more to it than fun. Over the years it’s been praised for being a tool that can help improve mental health by enhancing social skills, boosting creativity, reducing stress and developing problem-solving skills. Microsoft, which bought the game from founder Markus Persson in 2014, recently held a 15-day celebration in honour of the game’s 15th anniversary, discounting the price of some games and giving away loads of free stuff such as character creator items, maps and add-ons so players could hold their own parties in the game.
