ROME — Milos Raonic’s Italian Open ended in the quarter-finals on Friday when he was defeated 7-6 (4), 6-1 by Alexander Zverev. Raonic, who was a 2014 semi-finalist in Rome, didn’t face a single break point Thursday against Tomas Berdych but was broken four times by the up-and-coming 20-year-old Zverev, who is ranked No. Meanwhile, Rafael Nadal’s winning streak ended at 17 matches as he lost in straight sets to Dominic Thiem. The 6-4, 6-3 victory was a sort of revenge for Thiem, who was beaten by the Spaniard in the Madrid Open final last week. Thiem almost broke again early in the second set but Nadal managed to save two break points and go on to hold his serve.
