Michael Stone, 57, was twice found guilty of bludgeoning to death Lin Russell, 45, and her daughter Megan, 6, in Chillenden, Kent, in 1996. Stone has always protested his innocence and has claimed for a year that the man responsible was Bellfield, who murdered the schoolgirl Milly Dowler and two other young women. Stone’s legal team now claims that it has forensic evidence and a witness that place Bellfield at the scene and that the “bus stop killer” confessed in detail to a cellmate that he committed the attack on Ms Russell and Megan.
