Long-standing Tory donor Tony Gallagher, a multi-millionaire property developer who hosted David Cameron's 50th birthday party and who has pumped hundreds of thousands of pounds into the party both personally and through his companies, becomes a Sir. The two men reportedly came to know one another when Mr Cameron became the local MP and since 2007 Mr Gallagher has donated more than £300,000 to the Conservatives. Earlier this year, Boris Johnson registered a gift from Mr Gallagher of a "sterling silver envelope" worth £780 following the birth of his son Wilfred. As well as Mr Gallagher, other mega-rich businessmen recognised include billionaire brothers Zuber and Mohsin Issa who snapped up supermarket giant Asda in a £6.8billion deal last week. As chief executive, she has also been instrumental to the company's involvement in international efforts to develop a coronavirus vaccine.
