A 37-year-old man will appear in Hamilton District Court following a shooting incident near Kawhia. A man facing court in connection to a shooting in rural Waikato that left one man dead and three others injured has been charged with possessing a newly prohibited military-style semi-automatic rifle. He was remanded in custody and without plea to next appear in the Te Awamutu District Court on June 20. The charges stem from an incident near Kawhia in south west Waikato on Thursday morning in which four men in a car suffered gunshot injuries. No other events in the area were being investigated, he said, adding that it appeared to be an "isolated incident".
