The Philippine Army (PA) is preparing its recommendation seeking the extension of martial law in Mindanao. The proposal will then be forwarded to the Commander in Chief, President Rodrigo Duterte. Padilla says, the military would like to lengthen the effectivity of martial law for a few more days. For its part, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has drafted a position paper endorsing the extension of martial law. The 60-day martial law in Mindanao on declared by Duterte last May 23 will expire on July 22 or two days before SONA.
