Military commander in charge of human resources facing claims of inappropriate behaviour

The commander in charge of human resources for the Canadian Forces was himself investigated over allegations of inappropriate behaviour with female subordinates in the late 1990s, CBC News has learned. The allegations include claims of suggestive or unwelcome comments, sexual advances, predatory behaviour and inappropriate relationships with female subordinates, the sources said. (Justin Tang/Canadian Press)Dawn McIlmoyle formally left the Canadian Forces in September 1993 after she said a male colleague raped her. She said she questions how thoroughly the military investigated misconduct claims before Operation Honour — the Canadian Forces campaign against sexual misconduct in the ranks — was launched in 2015. The military's campaign against sexual misconduct, known as Operation Honour, launched six years ago in response to an independent report by former Supreme Court justice Marie Deschamps.
