The army cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace the militants responsible for the attack. The convoy was on its way from Kupwara to Baramulla when the attack took place. This is the second attack on an army convoy in the past one month. On August 17, militants had launched a similar attack on an army convoy on the national highway at Khawjabagh Baramulla that left two soldiers and a police man dead.
