Share TweetBy Ellson QuismorioMakabayan Bloc solons have condemned the killing of Bayan Muna leader and Escalante City Councilor Bernardino “Toto” Patigas, who was gunned down by two unidentified men. “The senseless and cowardly murder of Councilor Toto Patigas is the latest in the string of brutal assaults against members of Bayan Muna and other progressive groups in the run up to the May 13 elections,” Bayan Muna Party-List Rep. Carlos Zarate said in a statement. Patigas had just came from a campaign sortie at around 4:30 p.m. Monday when he ambushed by two gunmen while driving his motorcycle in front of Escalante National High School in Negros Occidental. According to Zarate, Patigas has long been vilified and red-tagged by the military as a communist and terrorist.
