A forecast for the “second half” now underway is impossible, far less a verdict, but some pointers as to what to watch. Jumping the gun on the “second half” by projecting a bleak 2016 thus far would be unfair — a verdict can only be properly issued at the other end. Even Macri, on a Paris-Brussels-Berlin swing this week, joined the discussion — although more with the aim of consoling the EU than Britain. And not only voices — the markets were already calming down while pundits hastened to let all concerned into a little secret: Brexit is overrated. But in the interim there has been no lack of voices from various quarters seeking to put a more positive spin on that disaster — voices extending to President Mauricio Macri.
