The report on the milestone visit of our Philippine Council for Foreign Relations (PCFR) group in Beijing on September 13-16 failed to give due mention and recognition to the Chairman and President of the PCFR, Ambassador Jose V. Romero Jr., who led our delegation in a Track II initiative with Chinese counterparts. The conspicuous omission of the name of the PCFR president as the head of the delegation needs to be addressed and rectified to give credit to whom this is due. Significantly, this will not only boost the morale of our team but also make The Manila Times report accurate. It was Ambassador Romero that was sent the letter of invitation to go to Beijing, along with his delegation, by Ambassador Wu Hailong, president of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs. It was also Ambassador Romero, along with Gen. Adan–co-chairman of the National Security Committee of the PCFR–that sent the letter to the Secretary of National Defense, requesting me to join the Filipino delegation in Beijing.
