Ghana international Partey has established himself as a key player for Atletico over the past four seasons and this week helped the Spanish club knock Liverpool out of the Champions League. Arteta is already preparing for his first full season as Arsenal manager and will look to sign a defensive midfielder as one of his first additions this summer. In Arteta’s first transfer window in charge, Arsenal secured loan deals for defenders Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares. One potential issue for Arsenal as they pursue Partey is the fact the club will unlikely be in a position to offer the midfielder Champions League football next season.
