Following the chart-topping success of Linkin Park’s Meteora, the band’s second album, Mike Shinoda and Chester Bennington each spawned separate side projects. Shinoda united with members of Styles Of Beyond to record an album under the Fort Minor moniker, while Bennington teamed with friends for Dead By Sunrise. So Shinoda was not exploring the idea of a solo album by any means. After 20 years being in the non-stop behemoth that was Linkin Park, who have sold 100 million albums this century, Shinoda finds himself recording under his own name for the first time, truly unsure of what happens next.
