Mike Cannonbrooks rejected Scott Morrison’s proposal that plans to close AGL Energy’s coal-fired power plant early would boost electricity prices. The prime minister hopes the government will operate until the end of the planned operating period of the coal-fired power plant, “focusing on sweating these assets to ensure an affordable and reliable power supply. Asked about Morrison’s comments, Cannon Brooks said the existing listed closure dates for Australian coal-fired power plants were impractical and did not reflect “the economic lifespan of those assets” and the consortium exchanged. These coal-fired power plants aren’t exactly award-winning for reliability,” said one of Australia’s wealthiest co-creators of software company Atlassian. The closure of the Liddell coal-fired power plant, also in New South Wales, had already been accelerated until next year.
