Mika's colourful life portrayed in new biography


Mika's colourful life has been portrayed in a new book. The loud, proud, gay Māori performance artist, grew up in Timaru as Neil Gudsell, unaware of Māori culture. "When it came to Māori Day in school, being the only Māori in my class, I was asked if I knew how to do the haka." Speaking on the phone from, Auckland, he reflects about his life which has been detailed in the biography I Have Loved Me A Man - The Life and Times of Mika, written by Sharon Mazer. He says he is proud of the new book on his life, which has been several years in the making.
