MidCentral struggling to attract the public to meetingsThe people of Manawatu seem uninterested in what is happening at their local health board, as only a smattering turn out at public events. In a report to this week's board meeting, chief executive Kathryn Cook said public attendance rates had "trended down". Cook said if there was a significant local health matter, attendance rates generally increased. In conjunction with the public forums, local mayors and council chief executives were invited to attend and to join the board for lunch. Public forums were advertised in the newspaper, on MidCentral's website and on its social media pages.
