Microsoft operates a big Silicon Valley campus in Mountain View. In a regulatory filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Redmond, Wa.-based Microsoft stated that multiple factors had fueled the layoffs. The Seattle area, where Microsoft has its world headquarters, is being particularly hard hit by the first wave of Microsoft layoffs. The employees affected by the Mountain View and Santa Clara job cuts don’t have bumping rights, which allow senior workers to displace junior employees. “The Silicon Valley region facilities are not being closed as a result of this decision,” Microsoft stated in the WARN letter.
