A September 2015 patent filing by Microsoft that was published a couple of days ago could reveal the potential designs of some foldable computing devices. The publication number of the filing is US2017/0086308 A1, a PDF of which is now available to the public. The filing explains how the support structure between tiled display devices can be arranged in such a way that the supports are obscured and essentially invisible to the end-user, when viewed from certain angles. It could technically even apply to multiple displays connected to a desktop system, which is increasingly more commonplace.
