MS may want to lead, but they don't want Playstation to die off, because that would only hurt themselves. MS is bridging a divide right now between big tech and traditional video games. Some criticize MS for doing that already, but they're leaning into it while also maintaining the traditional market. The alternate universe that doesn't have MS buying the games industry has the worse timeline of the other big tech companies doing so. But it depends on Sony not doing what Sony often does and squandering the opportunity they have to rethink how they approach things.
