Microsoft Chairman John W. Thompson is joining Lightspeed Venture Partners as a venture partner. An independent member of Microsoft’s board since 2012, Mr. Thompson has held senior positions in software and IT companies, including as chief executive at Symantec and venture-backed Virtual Instruments Corp., a Lightspeed portfolio company.
