Microsoft has completed more than 50 M&A transactions since Satya Nadella took over as CEO in early 2014, according to FactSet. Microsoft ’s MSFT 0.87% acquisition of GitHub should finally lay its own to rest. At $7.5 billion in stock, this isn’t Microsoft’s largest or even most surprising deal to date. The price is lower than it appears because it is being paid with Microsoft’s stock, which is up 40% in the past 12 months. And Microsoft has hardly been lax on the deal front overall; the company has completed more than 50 M&A transactions since Satya Nadella took over as chief executive in early 2014, according to FactSet.
