Tech giant Microsoft officially opened its African Development Offices in Nairobi last week. The $27 million tech talent hub was opened just days after the company unveiled another similar facility in Lagos, Nigeria. Located at Dunhill Towers along Waiyaki Way, Microsoft has now confirmed that the facility will also host the Microsoft Africa Research Institute (MARI), its first on the continent. Microsoft says the Research Institute will be at the forefront of inventing new technologies to advance scientific knowledge in the field of computer science. It will conduct cutting edge research in the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Systems and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI).
