Michigan suspends PG Simpson for one game

Michigan suspended senior point guard Zavier Simpson for Tuesday’s game against Nebraska due to a violation of team policies, Wolverines coach Juwan Howard announced Monday. Simpson has never missed a game in four seasons in Ann Arbor, appearing in 135 consecutive contests (85 starts) since his debut on Nov. 11, 2016. The Michigan co-captain leads Division I with 8.3 assists per game and is the third-leading scorer for the Wolverines (11-8, 2-6 Big Ten) with 12.8 points per game. Moving forward, we will continue to handle this matter appropriately within our program and basketball family.”A Michigan spokesperson confirmed the suspension is for only one game. The Wolverines have lost four straight and five of six entering Tuesday’s game at Nebraska (7-13, 2-7).
