When former first lady Michelle Obama walked into a D.C. high school classroom, the stunned students erupted in tears. Obama, who still lives in Washington, made a surprise visit Tuesday to Ballou STAY High School to speak with 14 students for two hours. Obama’s visit with students at Ballou STAY High School featured “tears, laughs and lots of hugs,” a spokeswoman said. Protesters greeted Education Secretary Betsy DeVos when she visited a D.C. school last month. “These are students, students who no one says positive things to you generally, and it was really just to affirm their journey,” Fuller said.
