Technically, a tire becomes a worn tire the instant it hits the road. To demonstrate the fact that there are differences between new and worn tires, as well as differences between new and worn tires of competitive brands, Michelin set up two demonstrations. A third Camry had “New Brand B” tires, while the fourth Camry came with “Worn Brand B” tires. Not surprisingly, the worn tires delivered longer stopping distances than the new tires. The biggest surprise was that worn Brand A tires stopped shorter than new Brand B tires.
