Michel Platini has been arrested after the awarding of the 2022 World Cup to QatarThe former UEFA President was taken into custody in France on Tuesday morning, according to French site Mediapart. Platini served as president for eight years before being banned from all football activity by the FIFA Ethics Committee in 2015. The French football legend was banned Platini along with FIFA's then-president Sepp Blatter for breaching ethics rules. It related to a payment of 2m Swiss Francs Blatter made to the Frenchman in 2011. This morning Platini is said to have been taken to the premises of the Anti-Corruption Office of the Judicial Police (OCLCIFF).
